About Our Contest
ANYONE CAN ENTER. Not just card-carrying theater, arts and entertainment publicists or press agents.
FORMULA IS OUT. No one strategy or angle goes into a pitch destined to generate coverage. Be honest, be creative, be imaginative. What would make YOU want to read about your event? THAT'S what we want to hear.
Submitted pitches will reach the desks, laptops and in-boxes of arts journalists and culture pros nationwide. So while you’re winning the pitching contest… you’ll be secretly pitching hundreds of influential writers and speakers as well… But don’t tell them that's what you're up to – it’s a secret! The pitch with the most votes as of the close of contest Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 5 PM wins.
Presenter of the winning pitch will land an all-access, no-b.s. interview with Engine28 to explore what works, what doesn't, what informs a story pitch that can't be resisted. You'll be a star.
Press Jury Prize
The 35 journalists of Engine28 from all over the US will vote on THEIR favorite pitches. The winner of the e28 journalists vote will win the e28 Press Jury Prize.
The Press Jury Prize is this: All of our journalists will offer short critiques of the winning pitch. You'll get opinions on what really works and how it could be even better. Invaluable insight into how working journalists assess the pitches they receive.
No rules really. Think a press release will make your case? You're welcome to try. But we doubt you'll get far. Pique the interest of your reader. Force them to want to find out more. You can vote for as many entries as you want, but you can only vote once for each entry.
